The Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test (TS LAWCET) is a state-level entrance examination conducted by Osmania University on behalf of the Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE) for admission to 3-year LLB and 5-year integrated LLB programs in government, private, and affiliated law colleges across Telangana. Established under the Telangana Higher Education Institutions Act, TS LAWCET evaluates candidates' aptitude in General Knowledge, Current Affairs, and Legal Aptitude through a 90-minute online test. Annually, over 60,000 candidates appear for approximately 6,890 seats in 30+ participating institutions, including Osmania University, Kakatiya University, and private colleges like Symbiosis Law School Hyderabad.
Students take TS LAWCET primarily to secure merit-based seats in affordable government law colleges (fees ₹5,000–₹20,000/year) with strong alumni networks and high placement rates (average 4–6 LPA in firms like Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas). It offers a cost-effective pathway to legal education without the intense competition of national exams like CLAT, ideal for Telangana residents seeking local opportunities in the judiciary, corporate law, or litigation. Non-Telangana students also opt for it to access limited All India seats (15%) in top colleges, benefiting from Hyderabad's growing legal hub status.
